Default Hurricane gas issue

Hey there everyone, I just recently picked up a 87 hurricane. It runs and everything but does have some issues. First the cam chain tensioner, it is rattley, do I have to replace it? And also the guy I bought it from told me that the bike does die out on the highway when the gas is low. All he did was open and close the gascap. What would cause this? Breather tub? Vacuum pump? I'm at a loss. please help and thank you

I'm not entirely sure this is 100% correct, but you may have a clogged tank vent. On my f3 they are 2 hoses on the bottom of the tank that go straight down between the swingarm

you gave it an hour and 25 views. . . give it more time. If you know the CCT is going, than I would recommend either replacing it or modding it to be a manual one.

Lol ya you're right, I'm just ready to take her out! Lol. And I will have to definitely look up to see how to make it a manual one.

Moved to the 1000F section - CCT rattle is common on these - if the rattle persists
after warm up - then it needs changing - if it ceases on warm up I'd hold off.

These 1000F's do not readily accept manual tensioners as they have hydraulic style
oil tensioners.

20/50 weight bike oil change can help

There's a breather pipe under the tank - check to see if it's blocked or kinked

Try reading a few threads on this page for some more info about similar problems
"search" button works well too.

BTW Konrad ----- welcome to the Forum and the 1000F Hurricane Section

Thank you very much good sir! And ya I guess I wasn't looking right lol. And I am during for an oil change, that's for sure. And I am very happy to be part of the forum. This is my 4th motorcycle but first sports but. And also CBRs have been my dream bikes. Now I finally have a keeper. And I only paid $500 for her! Couldn't be any happier. Now to do some SF mods and save up for new plastics.
