hey everyone. so here is an update. i still have the hurricane, i cant find a buyer. so if i cant sell it for $1,250.00 or more, i am just going to work on it over the fall and winter. with the issues i have, the rpms not going past 7k rpms, and the starter clutch problems, how long, much and hard would it be? and i didnt have time yet, or wont have time for a while to look up info on how to rebuild the carb and replace the starter clutch, if anyone has the info, please let me know. a guy sent me a link to replace the alternator chain and says its the same as a starter clutch but idk. im still looking for a new job so that is my main priority.

The starter clutch is on the same shaft as the alternator damper (which has the alternator chain running from it).

I would check very carefully if it was the clutch or damper that was causing the problem. There are a number of threads/how to's on fixing the problem.

As for the carbies, buy another set and work slowly through cleaning them out thoroughly, replace needles and seats, blow out all the jets, check diaphragms for holes/tears, put it together and use a carbtune or similar to balance the carbs.

Also, clean out your fuel tank thoroughly, clean the petcock filter and perhaps replace the main fuel line.

If that doesn't fix it, I'd be looking to burn it!

Cheers, SB
