THE OLD LADY
SHE SITS QUIETLY, DIGNIFIED IN SILENCE, WAITING…
A PICTURE IN HER NEW COLOURS, PRETTY AS WHATEVER YOU CAN IMAGINE…
IF WE COULD KNOW THE STORIES ONLY SHE COULD TELL
THE DAYS OF YOUTH AND SPEED, LONG RUNS FLYING THROUGH THE MORNING COLD, OR INTO THE LAZY HEAT OF SUNSET, ADVENTURES LOST NOW TO ALL SAVE THOSE WHO KNEW AND LOVED HER THROUGH THE YEARS.
SHE IS OLDER NOW, YET STILL HAS THE POWER TO DRAW YOUNG MEN WHICH WOMEN WOULD PAY A KING’S RANSOM TO POSSESS…..!
SHE WAITS FOR YOU. OR ME, TO WHISPER TO HER GENTLY, BRING HER TO LIFE IN AN INSTANT, AND SUDDENLY IN HER AWAKENING ALL IS NOT AS IT WAS…..
THERE IS A MENACE IN HER STANCE WHICH WARNS AS MANY WOMEN DO,
“MISTREAT OR ABUSE ME AT YOUR PERIL ! “ AND SHE’S THE ONE WHO CAN MAKE IT ALL RIGHT OR WRONG IN A HEARTBEAT, AND YOU WILL PAY DEARLY FOR ANY DISRESPECT.
SHE GROWLS A GENTLE WARNING LIKE A PREDATOR TO HER CUBS, BUT WILL BARK AND RUN AT THE LEAST ENCOURAGEMENT, TO PLACES WHERE LINES ARE BLURRED AND THE WORLD BECOMES A TUNNEL, BATTERED BY SOUND. WHERE AN INSECT HAS THE POWER OF A BULLET,
AND YET WITHIN ALL THE NOISE THERE IS A SILENCE SO PROFOUND THAT ONLY THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN THERE CAN DESCRIBE IT.
WE RETURN HER TO HER HOME, TO BE PAMPERED AS ANY WOMAN SHOULD BE, AND CARED FOR AS SHE COOLS WITH MUSICAL TINKLING SOUNDS.
AND ONCE AGAIN, PATIENTLY, SHE WAITS……
ROADRUNNER
The light has come, I scan the sky
The weather clear, the tarmac dry
The road has called, and we must go
To places only we will know….
With rush of wind and angry growl
A somewhat predatory howl
The snick of gears, and brutal drive
We face the road, and come alive
A gentle bend, a lengthy sweep
The tyres are good, the grooves are deep,
She flies and sings the siren song
For here is where we both belong.
For on the edge is where we thrive
And here alone we can despise
The mindless moron changing lanes
Who never fell and felt the pain.
The taxis blunder, bringing death
And cars which struggle so for breath
To climb the hills we fly with ease
Where we are free and find release.
They cannot know who do not ride
The overwhelming sense of pride
Which comes to those who live so free
Who love to run, like she and me.

I think what you will find is a general theme in this forum about our CBR1KFs. I absolutely love this bike. I ride with all types from Harleys to the Harley look alikes to R1's etc.The only negative I have heard is that it doesnt have bags and I have no intent to put bags on it,respect to those that do. It is built just the way I want it.I will get smoked by those that use both lanes in the mountains and thats ok, I have been waved back by the sport riders who were shocked by the age of the bike when I responded to "what is that?" (I took all the decals off) along with the fact that my beard is all white these days.Even sitting still I look at her and think what a beautiful thing.
The bike is rock steady at 12 oclock and above on the speedo and gets there without fanfare - only that quiet snarl that belies all the noise that demonstrates the efforts of my companions.
That first passage copied into the thread is SO descriptive of these bikes. The soul of them. When I ride it the world is ok.
I compare to blackbirds, 'busas and the 1400 Ninja, but when it comes down to it, yeah, I absolutely love my Hurricane.....
