Default How are CBR1000fs regarded in the biking world?

As i've previously said i'm new to biking at 43 and bought my CBR1000f as i saw it in my mates garage and though **** it, i'll treat myself and learn to ride

As the title says - what is the general opinion of the bike? Mine is a 92' and to me looks great for a bit of kit that has been on the roads for 20 years.

Is it considered a bit of a classic or a piece of plasitic toytown crap?

Is that full "racing style" fairing a bit "of it's time" and outdated or are bikes like this still desirable?

What say you people that own and know the bike??

I've got a few buddies that ride. Everything from a Harley to a metric cruiser to a Honda NC700X and a couple dual sports. They all seem to "like" my CBR. The biggest compliment I've gotten is how good of shape it's in for how old it is. Personally, I think these bikes are "classics". What might be classic to one person might not be to the other lol.
Here's my personal feelings. I couldn't give a rats behind about what anybody thinks about my CBR The price was right and I had the opportunity to buy it, so I did and I have no regrets

Most go........ nice bike.

Go by the BMW Dealership customers and sales personnel go - huh ! ---LOL
But you must remember paying big for the big reputation has it's merits too, kind
of a Napoleonic scenario ........

From us pmcg - absodoodle, but from others we ride with or who comment on the bike perhaps not.

Most comments regarding my CBR1000F are disbelief that it is over 20 years old, looks a great bike and how it is a lot of bike for the money.

Personally, I think they have dated incredibly well and with that strong, lusty engine are still a hoot to ride - and ride quickly - to boot!

Cheers, SB

Who cares what others think. But, to be hypocritical and express one opinion, it is not a beginners bike (but I'm old school- start small, then move up).

So interesting opinions there and I thank you and to Pacojoseph - I see ya point but when ya 23 stone and 6'1 if you start small you trend to get that "elephant on a tricycle" look that isn't overly desirable

Go sit a CBR 600 and then you'll feel like an elephant on a tricycle... (I know I sure did)

In with Sebastionbear here,

Most dont say a word about my bike, they just seem to be stoned, and wow moment on the age and its looking relationship.

I dont think its gotten old, still looks awsome and I think a bit more comfortable that most bikes. (for my needs atleast)

She might be old but I recon she havent lost her horses nowhere and that counts! Like a 21 yr old in a 65 body
