Now, what would it take for you to make just an "upgrade kit" for everyone to fit to their existing tensioner themselves? I can replace parts but, making my own is another story.

Hi all,

there's a guy from Netherlands selling an exact copy of the "HenryM style" CCT mod kit as his own development for about US$ 150 - he published that in the german CBR1000-Forum:WWW.CBR-1000.de

What do you think - does that sound like a fair deal?

Seeya,

US$150 seems a bit steep to me, it's not like it's a factory part with a guarantee or some kind of comeback if it all goes bang!

The parts involved are not expensive.

Btw I didn't mention that it is an exact copy of the "HenryM style" CCT mod...

That's expensive - more than the cost of a new tensioner here + the "Henry" spares.
I'll have to live with the rattle until someone develops a kit that'll sell for around 50 pounds or less.

Henry should have patented his design.

Might re-open the case of Henry M's pinched ride.

I'd pay $150.00 US to the inventor/innovator and no one else

Totally agree - and that's what I wrote in the german forum, too.
And something more...it's simply not fair to make claims about
development work with the innovation of other people...

Wow, again I've been out of the loop for too long. In brief, a failed appendix removal operation has left me incapacitated for the last 8 months but following an operation a week ago I am now on the mend and can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. Hoo bloody ray!!!
I didn't know anything about this copy coming out of NL so thanks for flagging it up Ralf. To be honest I am not offended that someone else has copied it, quite the opposite in fact. It would be nice to see in detail what the copy looks like and the materials that have been used. It would never be my intention to copyright any thing like this which can give benefit to 1KF enthusiasts. We all deserve a top class experience at the end of the day and those with the enthusiasm and determination to make the tensioner mod are to be encouraged and applauded. As for cost, I don't think it's too bad if you have to buy it once and never have to worry about it again. A good investment I'd say. My experience of my own modification has been completely positive to the point of my last post when I said there was noise coming from it again. Unfortunately I haven't been able to investigate further after my immobilisation. I certainly will be though when I have the strength to start spattering again. The poor bike has been sitting exactly where I left it on 31/05/14. I have pined every day.
Given that I have only had half my digestive system working until last week, my brain has suffered fuel starvation. You have no idea how important your lower intestine is in maintaining brain function until it's taken away from you. I would urge everyone to look after themselves properly. CCTs are so far down the pecking order in comparison.
I will update this thread with some technical info in a few weeks, promise. In the mean time, take care and ride safe. Love to you all.

Welcome back Henry - and I'm so very glad you are on the mend after the second op. How on earth did they manage to mess up an appendix op??

Mine exploded when I was 17 and was removed in a great hurry, peritonitis set in and I lost a fair bit of weight in a few weeks. The nurses were *great* though

Take your time healing, you are right about health.

Cheers, SB

I'll echo Seb's sentiment, Henry it's good to have you back!

Concentrate on your health, though I'm sure you don't need me to tell you that.
