Hello Guys
Hi there '
New to the site and Biking so any advice or tips on my 1991 CBR1000f will be most welcome . Just bought it a couple of days ago , so still finding my way around at the mo .
The right hand fork seal is weeping oil so that is the first job for me to do . How difficult is this , and the workshop manual I have says to fill the forks with ATF , which I think is auto transmission fluid , is this correct or are they talking bo77ocks?
Lastly I would presume it is best practice to do both forks at the same time to avoid handling issues ?
Thanks Steve.

RE: Hello Guys
I'm going to be brief because I'm heading out: do both forks at the same time to the fluid is the same consistency. I used 15w fork oil because I'm as heavy as the bike (probably swap it out for some 10w oil). Haven't done the seals yet, but you can use a 2' PVC pipe and cut slots in it to shrink it down to 1 1/2' and use it as a fork seal driver

RE: Hello Guys
Yer the folk seals are pretty easy to do , if you have a stand or can keep the front up in the air?
Definitely do both at once mate..
The ATF is as you wrote..auto transmission fluid..
Some guys like to put different oil in and it really just depends on personal choice , some like the 15W folk oil? ... but if you do not want to get into figuring out which different oil to use, I would stick to the recommended mate..
Just follow the manual as to how to do the job...take your time and if you get stuck...jump online and just ask here mate ...
Someone is usually kicking around in here that can help...

RE: Hello Guys
You simply MUST have a watch of these guys videos
http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=...mp;view=videos
I found it so good I actually bought the DVD version - but if you look through the list here you will find the ones you need.
How sporting are they putting them on Youtube eh? personally I am going to collect the whole set - they are cheap enough / really good and the pic quality on my big screen TV is great
Enjoy - (Oh and welcome )

RE: Hello Guys
Thanks for the link Harry ,
great vid seen a couple by these guys beforeincluding a very thorough3-parteron how to clean your bike ! Realy good for those that suffer from 'compulsive cleaning disorder'.
For anyone with 'upside down forks there is agreat 3-parter by some guys called 'motosport' don't know how to do a link I'm afraid but the title is 'Changing Fork Seals Part 1 (of 3).
If the guy in your vid ever wants to sell his bike it will be a great buy , he's such a stickler for detail to the point of obsession!
Oh and thanks for the tip about original seals , that was gonna be my next question.
Thanks again Steve.
