Default Handlebar weight removal and install help!

My bike came without bar ends and the bars buzz at speed. Long rides my hands get numb.
I got info on what parts I needed to install bar ends from another member here but can't remember who and my computer email acsess is problematic. So sorry about that.

Anyway the weights just spin inside the bars when screwing the weights on. So I need to know how to get the weight out and replace whatever parts needed to install the bar ends correctly.
Help would be very appreciated. Manuals are useless!!!

My apologies for hastily posting in the wrong place yet again. But think I've figured it out.
Also discovered that Sprock responded to me on 11/29/13.

Unfortunately I'm just getting around to this. Anyway one of the internal bar weights is to far into the bars. They are both stuck but spin when threading bar ends on.

I want to take everything out of the bars and start over. Hopefully fixing my problem.😩

The bike was wrecked before I purchased it and probably the source of this problem.🔩

There is a retaining clip inside the handlebar. To remove this you need to take off the grips first, there is a hole under the bar you can poke a thin object through to release the clip.

Thanks Hawkwind. I knew there were clips, I had bought new ones and rubber weights in 2013. I just did not know how to get them out and on again. Well I went on the web this morning, searched around and figured it out. Anyway long story, got everything out of the bars.

It turned out the bar internals were from 1990-96 model years, which are different from 1987-88 model years. I have an 87 model and the rubber weights I purchased are for the wrong end of the internal bar weight, since i purchased based on 87 model parts diagram.

All of the part # are identical but the internal weights are shaped differently and the rubber weights go on opposite ends. Crazy!

Hope my pain will help someone else.

Right! But here's timely for you. Realized the weight that was pushed way into the bar clutch side, had the end snapped off. Went into the house and found one NOS on EBAY in 3 minutes. Got to love that! 😊

Yep nice work, I've seen many with the lower 1/5 snapped off from being tipped over or dropped usually

In the interest of clarity.
I overlooked the fact that Honda had changed the part # for the internal bar weight of the 87 & 88 from 53104-MM5-000 to 53104-MS2-000. The latter # happens to start with the 1990 US models and not a change.
However the weights I pulled out of my bars matched the later years. I purchased it post accident and fairly certain they were original since they had the damage of the accident of the first owner (teenager). My 87 was a late model year. So my guess is, Honda thought the change was a better option or a money saver.?
