Default Frame bent? (steering wobble)

Way wobbley now, it feels like the bike wants to split in 2. When I use the rear brake the front of the bike pulls to the left. It was in an accident before I bought it but I put about 2k on it. This has been a gradual worsening but now I'm afraid to ride except to the winter storage location. It is an 87 cane. If the frame is busted, can that be like rewelded or something? thanks.

Check on the net to see if there is a Computrac franchise near you. They will measure your frame with lasers and have the ability to straighten your frame. They were able to save our race bike after a couple of sever crashes. They are the only people I know of that have this capability. Anyone else would tell you to junk it.

If you put the bike straight up and inspect it very carefully you will probably be able to see if something is bent, which causes the problem. I agree with Shadow though that it may very well be a aged bearingor some other maintenance item. Check steering bearings, swingarm bearings and the wheel bearings. Also check that the brakes releases as they should and that the fork moves freely up and down. Bad tyres can also induce wobble.
