fork seals
Hi all,was wondering how much of a bitch it is to do the fork seals 1990cbr1000f left fork is weeping and must be low cause it just scared the hell out of me today feels real lame in the corners and this bike sticks very well normally any input would be helpfull thanks Bob
I can replace a set of seals in around 2 hours ( both forks ) on my CBR1000F-L.
You need to get a couple of things first to make the job easier.
A piece of plastic drain pipe with an 1 3/4" bore but less than 2 1/4" OD ( to push the seals in )
Fork oil ( I stick with 10wt ) - The book says appx 408ml per leg but I set the air gap to 150mm (about 6" )
Some teflon based grease ( a small amount on the seal lips before they go in seems to make the forks much smoother )
A sump plug tool ( for removing the fork top caps )
A good buddy is always handy to help putting the springs & retainers back on.
