Default fork seals

well i pulled my forks off my bike today to do the seals . when i pulled the left fork tube apart the fork slide tube would not move period as in bent really bad lol . sooo i took forks off my 03 954 parts bike and in using them instend . and to just think i was riding around and doing 100+ with blown fork seals and a bent fork tube and the moron that had the bike last used transmission fluid in the forks as in mercon 5 lol
im thinking the bike is going to handle great after its done

When you go to set the sag, slip a zip-tie around the tube. then push it tight to the
seal before you get on the bike. It makes it easy to measure, after you've loaded the
front, by how far it's moved. ;-)

I wish I understood what any of this fork seal talk is all about. That's something I don't understand. :icon_envy:

Aww, gee, *blushes*, Thanks!

Wish I could claim credit, but that's one of those GIGO moments.
When some of the insatiable curiousity and reading pays out.
It's one of those tid-bits, we'll never know who figured it out first! lol

Forks are easy in concept, difficult in proper execution. The springs support
your's and the bike's weight. The stiffer they are (to a point), the better the
pressure on the contact patch.

The valve uses hydralic fluid squirting back and forth through the resistance of
a teeny, weeny hole to slow/dampen the movement of the fork. So that the tire,
again, stays in firm contact with the surface.

The trick is knowing how to balance the forces, so that the main mass of the rider
and bike, float in a stable plane above that surface.

I've been messing around with mine lately. I'm trying to find a nice soft spot since I use it for daily road trips. No track here. Th front is especially hard cuz u have rebound adjusters at th top an bottom. I'm getting closer to where I want it tho.

@madhattr059 - maybe u didn't come up w th idea but u shared it here an taught us (or at least me) some new so I gives u th cred.
