fork seals
do i need to take the forks right out of the bike to replace the fork seals?
of course the manual says you remove the fork, but it looks to me as though with a little mucking around i could get it done without removing them completely.
anyone done this before?
i guess if i continue to put the poor old girl on the back wheel i will be doing this often

RE: fork seals
I would highly recommend taking them out of the bike. Dealing with the hassle of assembling them on the bike would involve lifting the bike high enough to clear the bottom tube for removal (Risk of dropping bike) as well as access to the allen head bolt from the bottom. You don't actually have to remove the controls just loosen the pinch bolt on the handlebar and remove the wire clip. Loosen the pinch bolts and out it comes, make sure to hold on because it will drop to the ground if your not holding on to it or supporting it.

RE: fork seals
i dont mean to bragg, but it was pretty easy!
2 1/2 hours and 4 stubbies of carlton and she's done and looking good.
now for the next weeks riding to see if it worked
i came across a few things that halted me for a while, mostly jammed threads etc. but luckily i have a compressor and a home workshop type setup so it was no drama
