Yep, rear reflectors, and small front ones are blue.....why ?
Because I like blue, and in SA you don't have to have side reflectors.
Anyone can have red or orange ones......
I have a blue reflective strip on my backbox baseplate as well.
Also, the Police use blue, so you're more likely to be noticed in the dark with blue....
by people who may bump into you - they're more vigilant when maybe crashing into "police" vehicles...

RE: Fit alternate R/R to '97 1000F
FYI, when my CBR's R/R failed, I found a replacement from a trashed Honda ST1100. As previously stated, I removed the paint from the frame mounting point under the R/R and used computer heat sink compound between the frame & the R/R. I then installed a digital voltage meter made by Datel. I.E. http://fjr1300.info/howto/datel.html

RE: Fit alternate R/R to '97 1000F
Thanks AT,The r/r's that will fit CBR1000F's 90-96 are:
CB1000 Big One 93-97
ST 1100 Pan European 1990 only
CB750F2 85-96
CB750 Nighthawk 91-01
Pic of my reg/rec attached - as you can see it has a HUGE heatsink - twice the size of the factory part ! And has a one year guarantee...
Where can I buy one of those digital Voltmeters ? Looks like a great idea.

RE: Fit alternate R/R to '97 1000F
Thanks for the list Shadow, I was also looking for a replacement since mine decided to quit on me... turns out it doesn't sends the signal to the generator (?) properly so the battery doesn't charge... sometimes. I've tried adding a direct ground connection but the voltage rises to 16v and more at 2000rpm... time to replace the regulator.

Thanks Shadow1, I have a piece of paper in my shop manual with additional information. I will add those years and models for R/R.
I got your e-mail. Here in the states reflectors are; orange up front and red in the rear. Bicycles have white on the handlebars facing front. Other than that I have not seen anything else.
What happened to your Avatar? Did you take a ride to Toon Town?
ArTravlR, I will take efforts to remove heat from my R/R. I am planning a few x-country trips this coming season. I am thinking about modifying heat sink fins from a computer and using epoxy to fasten it.

That's right! there's a local brand that makes good quality regulators for all kinds of bikes, including the 1kF (with a large heat sink surface, like the 87-88), with 2 years warranty... but I'm wondering, will this be a common issue in the years to come? I've read a lot of posts about regulators here and they seem to be a common issue with these bikes.

RE: Fit alternate R/R to '97 1000F
They seem to last about 25000 Kilos or so, judging by what I've read, so guys who only ride in their summer months will have maybe 3 or 4 years use, maybe more.....but for those of us who ride all the year round, the time span is shorter, maybe to do with the heat which we get in summer, and this may contribute to the failure.....I would NOT buy a genuine Honda part, they don't last, and don't deliver as much charge to the battery as aftermarket ones.
