Default Exhaust question

Got the motad exhaust last week and in taking off my old header i noticed that i have oil on one of the tubes.I assume this indicates a cylinder leak but what specifically do i look for?I havent had the bike long enough to monitor what it does but starting up it wasnt blowing smoke....Whats the fix and what specifically is the problem?

I would start by looking at the back of the oil pan. That, and take a look at you front sprocket and see how much gunk is built up under the cover. Good time to check the seal of the transmission shaft as well.

if your main concern is the oil in the num 4 header tube id look in the port at the valve stem to see how much oil is slobbering down the stem you may have a valve seal leak

I see you said 'on' as opposed to 'in' - that could be as simple as a tappet cover gasket weeping over time. Maybe check the bolts for tightness. If you've had a fuel tank leak (like me) it will run down and damage the tappet cover gasket on the left side, turning it soft and allowing oil to seep out.
If it's not smoking, chances are it's not a major issue.
You could check by running the bike against compression down a hill, and then opening the throttle - if it billows smoke, rings or valve stem oil seals could be at fault.
Best guess from here.
Let us know what you find.

Hard to tell from the photos weather its in the pipe or just on the outside, but wrong side & place for the sprocket. If it's oily I'd say rings or valve stem seal. If it's not overly oily maybe just over rich on that one carbie possibly due to stuck or mal adjusted float or something similar?? If only on the outside then as shadow suggests most likely valve cover gasket.

The first thing I would do is to remove the saddle and lift the tank. Look around the valve cover as Shadow recommended and also look at the rubber seals that hold the cover in place (are they cracked).

It has been leaking for some time by the looks of the oil that has found its way down to the lower part of the exhaust collector when the bike was sitting. It does not get hot enough to burn that oil off if the bike is not run for a long time but will burn off of the head pipes.
