Exhaust cans???
Hey guys.
Just a quick question..
My bike has Ducati cans on it... It was like that when I got it and it was imported from Aussie...
Do you think they will be more restrictive than the factory ones and suffocating the engine? Or will they be fine?? How can I tell???
I'm asking because they get quite hot and you can hear them ticking when I stop the bike.
Any feedback greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

RE: Exhaust cans???
If the cans came off a 900cc OR larger Duc , they would be fine ..
Bike cans like car mufflers are designed to take a certain volume of exhaust gas efficiently with just the right amount of back pressure ... if the muffler is too small it will place a bit too much back pressure on the engine , possibly causing a power drop off ..
I think the reason some tick more than others is more a design issue ....
( how the gasses are run through the cans ) or how they are made ...

RE: Exhaust cans???
I would think that even if they were off a 750 they would work fine. A 750 twin sends 375 exhaust all at once to that silencer whereas a 1000 in-line 4 sends 250 twice to the same silencer.
How does it run? If the bike falls off rapidly before the tach is in the red that would be a concern. If you have no trouble getting the tach in the red you don’t have a problem.
The ticking is just things cooling off that have different rates of expansion. If the cans are riveted at the seams they will tick there.
