Default exhaust query

Would a 1988 model cbr1000 exhaust / head unit fit on a cbr1000 1990 model?

I'd say yes. I used my Yoshimura kit on my 88 and 90 so can't see an issue. I can't see the OEM unit being much different.

I think there is a difference in the location of the fixing bracket on the collection box, but that could easily be modified.

Apart from that everything should fit OK.

As Hawkwind says, the fixing bracket from the 88 is in a completely different place, just ask Tiggr2.

His headers are pulled to the right location with a metal strap because if you don't fix the headers under the bike in the right place the collector box droops down and the end cans do not fit correctly.

Yes the bracket is out of location. My exhaust is not connected there so it was no issue.
