Default Ethanol

I filled up the other day with an ethanol blend, but not sure if I did the right thing.
The bike seams to run a little better, but really not sure.
Had BP-98 before and now have IFS-95+10% ethanol.

Any Thoughts?

Default RE: Ethanol

I ran some E85 (85% ethanol, 15% gasoline) and it did not run very good. It was hard to start and needed the choke on to keep it idling. It would run ok at speed, but not great. HOWEVER, our bikes are not jetted for this fuel and don't have electronic fuel injection to automatically compensate for the lower energy per volume of ethanol vs gas - so I expected some problems - but it didn't stop me from trying[:'(]

On the other hand, 10% blends are perfectly fine and I run it all the time with no fuel related issues. The 10% ethanol should slow combustion a little and thus increase the octane rating a couple of points which may improve performance/smoothness a little (but not much).

Hope this helps,

Pat

Thanks, I didn’t know that you could get fuel with such a high Ethanol rating.
Australian law limits fuels to a maximum of 10% (E10).
