Default RE: Engine temps!

My temperature is a maximum of 1/4 off the cool side peg when cruising 75-80 mph, in 110 degree F conditions today. This is what I have seen since getting the bike two weeks ago.

At intersections, and slow streets, it gets up to 3/4 off the cool side peg, and I can hear the fan kicking on and off. I occasionally feel heat from the engine, but it disappears quickly when at highway cruise speeds - it's hot as hell in Dallas this week in the afternoons, and I am certain the road temps must approach 120 - 130 degrees F. "Indy" seems to handle it well.

I checked the coolant level yesterday, and added some coolant to the resevoir max full ine - it didn't take much - seems to be doing fine.

good to read all this, i was a little concerned about this last summer.
but it never went above and byond the 5/6 mark.
sounds as though most of these oldies run hot standing still in traffic.
of course a higher flow tstat will cool it down, but i will worry about that when i notice it getting hotter than current!
