Default Electrical Issue

I recently lost the whole headlight on my 1988 Hurricane. High and low beam are gone, though all my other lights are working fine, signals, brake/tail light. I replaces the fuses, though none were blown, the headlight, though that was fine as well, and several other electronic pieces. Still, no headlight. I think the switch may hev let go as it is showing an open at the connections.

I found out, Honda no longer makes the left handgrip assembly for the 1988. I was wondering if the left grip assembly off a newer Hurricane (1991 to 1996) could be used on my 88. When looking in the parts books, oldest parts I found to replace the grip was 1991.

Any help would be appreciated as so far, a thousand dollars in repairs on various parts already! Hoping to have her running asap.

Only an observation but my headlight switch is on the RIGHT hand switchgear. ( 1991 FL model )

The high/low switch is on the LEFT bar.

Viewed when sitting on the bike.

And - are you doing your testing with the ignition switched on ? - my lights don't work unless the ignition is on.

Go to www.Mrcycles.com
compare the part numbers by year, and you'll know what fits, switchwise.
I think the newer switch unit will fit.
Light switch ?- what light switch ? US models don't have on/off.....
If you lost both bulbs simultaneously, it's probably an earthing issue.
If your tester's showing an open circuit it could still be the earth.....
Let us know what you find please - helps us to help others.

Check your starter switch on the right side of the bike as you sit on it. US models have a switch that shut off electrical power to the headlights while cranking the engine to save electrical power. You may find the wire has come off the starter switch. I used a solder pen to reapply the connection.
