Remember it's set up on the centre stand, so the chain isn't really stretched. When you lower the bike it adds tension to the chain, when you sit on it this tension increases (dramatically in Sprocks case). When you hit a bump, the shock travels through the chain and where does this all end up? At the front sprocket and the drive shaft bearing

OY : wtf ......lol that's not nice ......geezuz

Don't you have a plane to Lagos or somewhere just as nice to catch ??

I'll catch you in BeanTown someday and there'll be payback !

Mrchips I am also in Wgtn.Who did you get your sprockets and chain from and were they excessivly expensive? I will be needing to replace chain and sprockets on my rebuild project in the next month or so to be ready to travel south for Burt Munroe Rally so any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

My brother kiwi TK my son and I will be doing what we are now calling the "octopassy tour" of the South Island Lewis Pass,Porters Pass,Arthurs Pass,Haast Pass,Crown Range(not a pass as such but the highest sealed road in NZ)Lindis Pass,Bourkes Pass and then a reverse crossing of Lewis Pass on the way north.

Sounds great kiwi TK, i'm hoping to fit in a South Island holiday of sorts with the wife & CBR over the next 7 months.

Standard DID Sprockets & chain (DID50VX x-ring) came as a set for the CBR1000F @ $369 from Motomart, Lower Hutt. The guys at Motomart are awesome, if they don't have parts in the shop, they'll have em the next day from Aucks.... not bad for a 20 year old bike !.

I've been into the shop heaps as using my CBR as my daily commuter ..... maintenance has all come at once this year !
