Default Clutch switch

im restoring a cbr1000f k uk spek
my qusetion is
on the right hand side handelbar is a clutch switch , now mine is missing the wires are there to conect.
i realise that it must only be a open / closed circuit .
the bike seems to work ok without a switch conected so
whats the point or is it esental to get one ive got a spare front break light switch would that do the same job

The clutch switch will only work when itis in gear

So the starter will only engage with the clutch in when in gear
