choke cable
Afternoon Guys,
Just a quick question, is changing the choke cable a tricky job on a 1990 F-L model? Do I need to remove the fuel tank or is it posible to change the cable with the fuel tank on its prop?
Thanks,
Kev.

well i have an 87, so i hope this applies. take your tank right off, very easy. turn your petcok off pull the fuel line and tank censor, the singal bolt by your seat and the two upper brakets bolts. plus your gonna have to take the dash peices off so you have enough room to fit a screw driver in there to take you clutch lever out, other then that it's easy.
Kev,
Even thogugh the tank needs to come off for the room, its quite easy to do. Let me know if you want the relevant bits from the Haynes Manual photocopied, or even borrow mine (dont need it for the mo) One last thing, if the prop has the original split pin in there, change it for an R clip, much easier in the future to get it out. Let me now if you want one, I have loads of spares, so no probs. Lastly the fuel tank is vaccuum controlled on our bikes, so no fuel will come out of the tank when its off, (or shouldnt)
Chris.

Hello
Since you have a 90 year model there is no need to remove the fuel tank or anything except for the 2 bolts in the top of the fuel tank and simply lift it in the front.
The fuel tank will then stay up in the same way as the hood of a car. No need to remove any hoses or cables.
When the fuel tank is lifted, the choke cable is visible and my grandmother could change it.

Thanks for that guys,
I shall go and order a cable in that case and see about getting it changed, it's really bugging me in the mornings now trying to get the damn thing off so the engine doesn't flood!
Thanks,
Kev.
