Definitely try this first if you want to change the idle.

Default Smart!

Seems like some of you dont understand what im talking about. When you start a cold motorcycle you use the choke and the choke makes the bike idle at a higher rpm till it gets warmed up and then you gradualy start turning the choke down till you can ride without it. My problem is that the choke cable doesnt seem to ingage the choke when used even all the way on. Is there any adjustment on the choke cable other than the adjuster screw on the left clip on at the choke lever?

There really isn't any adjustment in the clutch cable. Pull off your airbox and manually move the slider for the fuel choke. Just want to make sure the plungers are still sliding correctly.
Where the cable connects to the carbs, you'll see where it's pinched down. You can loosen it slightly and move the cable end out a little and then tighten it down again. If you cannot remove enough of the slack so that you can pull out the choke plungers, then you'll have to replace the cable.

when you put your bike on choke the rpm will be low (mine runs about 1200 to 1500) for couple minutes until the bike worms up. after it is worm it will gain RPM to about 3000 and thats when you take it of the choke. it should run about 1200 at idle.

from your post it sound like you are riding it on choke, i wait till my bike is warmed up to ride it.

+1.
choke fully engaged on a COLD bike will NOT jump the RPM's. only as it warms it will jump RPM's. My bike raises rpms like 4 times before i have the choke all the way out and ride it
