Default lol

well i finished my cby prject and i relized all the prep work in the world doesn't matter, there will be something stupid go wrong.
soo my problem is my petcock position is hard to find with no marks on the fairing, so can i just turn it all the way down to reserve or what?

Up is on, straight back is off, down is reserve. Don't know about yours, but on my '91 the indicators are on the seat.

there difrent because if i remeber straight back was on, and thats y i'm having trouble finding all they way on. thanks anyways

Couldn't you just look at the the pipes at the back of the plug and figure it out?

Horizontal will 90% of the time be the off position because your fuel lines run vertical and therefore with the petcock valve turned horizontal, the flow is plugged. That's how most motorcycles seem to be set. Reserve is usually set with the arrow pointing down which may or may not indicate that you are drawing from the bottom of the tank. That's just something I've notice on the 3 different bikes I've had as well as those of my friends. Even my old 1975 Honda CL360 Scrambler was set the same way.
