Default Changing cam chain

My cam chain and tensioner is has now covered 60,000 miles and needs to be changed. Does anyone know how I go about this. IE does the cam chain need to be split etc.
Cheers Chuzbut.

Default RE: Changing cam chain

From someone who has recently gone through this I can give you a few pointers.

1. Dont atttempt it unless you have all the tools and a clean space to work on.

It you dont have these specialty bits it will make your life really hard.

Cam Chain splitter/riveter
Valve adjustment tool and 3mm hex Key
Good quality Torque wrench that can read accuractly as low as 8ft lbs

You will probably find that the cam chain you buy will be endless. But it will come with a spare link so what you have to do is split the new & old chain. Join chains, feed through motor and then join the ends up.

IF you do a search you will see that its been discussed in length on this forum (Including my dramas )

Best of luck

Rob
