Chain and sprocket overload

Default Chain and sprocket overload

I used the search function but I am still confused. I am dropping the green 1000f off to have the motor swapped and while I am at it new wheel bearings, go through brakes, fork oil, sprocket and chain. I was trying to figure out what size I needed and a lot of the kits where so different, I got that the chain has 114 links and o-ring and that the sprockets are 17 and 42. But not sure whats up with the pitch and so forth. I am hopping that you guys can give me some recommendations.

it's a 530 pitch chain , 17 42 is stock gearing ,

sprocketcenter.com pick your bike tells you all you need to know



here's a link for a KIT

Seems SprocketCenter no longer has our kits

& btw if doing it yourself a chain tool kit is recommended
as most kits come with 120 links chains and have to be shortened
to the required length which is dependent on the size of sprockets
one selects eg. a 48 tooth large diameter rear sprocket requires
a longer chain than a 42 stock one

Thank you. I noticed they all came with 120. Keeping it geared stock. And going to let the shop install it while they have it

Good way to go - cutting and riveting chains although not too difficult "needs" to
be done right first time - can't make a short chain longer if you cut it so - & you can
easily over spread, over tighten a rivet head on a master link too

Besides that a good chain tool runs another 80 bucks

Just be sure the chain is a quality "oring/xring" style one from one of the major brands

eg DID , Tsubaki, ER , Regina , RK etc - just like tires and brakes - quality chains are just as
important impo
