Default CBR 1000 1990 Distribution & Starter chains

Hello vintage owners,
I recently heard from a bike mecanic that all those Hurricanes from 89 to 92 had the same "defect" as killing their distribution AND starter chains from 2.5 Kmiles to 10 Kmiles. I just sold an 88 model (42.200 Miles) and i have two 1990 models, one with aratteling engine noise (engine came from acrashed bike) and the next one with a 93 engine with few mileage and no noise.
As i dont believe too much the guy who said this, so what is yourpersonal experience or knowledge about this issue?
Thanks for your answers & best regards,
Pat.

Firstly, welcome to the Forum
Secondly if you regard these bikes as "vintage"[:@] - you have much to learn.
The noises you mention are PROBABLY CAM CHAIN/TENSIONER -related.
Nothing to worry about - fairly easy to resolve - plenty of "how to's" have been done on the Forum.
I would suggest your mechanic friend doesn't know much about these bikes.[X(]
My first camchain was in for 25000 miles, now on my third one (one was defective) and I still have the original tensioner fitted. Now have 44500 miles up.
Have a look in the manual:

Enjoy your stay.

I bought my 95 with 12,000 miles on the clock and now have around 35,000 miles on it, and I'm still on my original CCT and camchain (presumably). The only engine related problem I've ever had was a pinhole leak on a small plastic coupler running off the radiator that caused me to lose coolant and which cost $15 or $20 to replace. That said, my CCT has rattled since I bought the bike- however, the rattle always goes away once she warms up. As long as your bike only rattles when cold, I wouldn't worry about it.

Mine had a new chain at 25000 miles, I think your mechanic is a bit of a scare monger

Cheers
