Default carbs

I have a 1988 Hurricane 1000. I see a lot of carbs for sale on ebay. Is there any performance gains to be made by updating to a newwer carb such as a 1995 or 1996?

Thanks.

I know that they are different, but I don't know how much. The best performance gain is a good cleaning of your '88 carbs, including the jets, piston/diaphram assembly, air bleeds, and choke plungers.

You will loose power!

The later model carby's were jetted for more mid-range & low down power. The earlier models were peakier.

2 ways to go faster.

1. Pipe, jet kit, ignition advancer, new coils, K & N air filter.

or

2. Do some advanced cornering courses and you will gain just as many seconds per lap as doing the above.
