Right on the money there Dylan , 'Googled' 50VM and up it comes! 'DID 530(50)VM , only their strongest , best quality , 'X'ring chain!!

As I said before , the chain was on there when I bought the bike , so I don't know how many miles are on it , though I do know I've put 6,000 hard miles on it myself.
The sprockets are corroded but don't seem too worn and there is barely any movement of the chain at the back of the sprocket

I will send them an E-mail with the pics , but I can't wait that long for a replacement , so I'm going out to buy one today , I'm missing valuable riding time!!!

Are you serious ? - A split link (clip) joint on a bike with 100+hp !!

I value my life and my left leg far more than the ease of fitting a split link.

There is very good reason why EVERY manufacturer rivets chains on bigger bikes.

The last bike I saw with a split link was a 125cc scooter.

If you keep a good chain maintained properly it is good for well over 25K miles.

i trust the clip link just as much as the rivet link. all my bikes run them, including the chain on my fathers 7 second, 185 mph trapping drag bike. zero issues with them.

Hawk the way that old one was letting go ..... youda been screwed ! Lucky Man must be
the Irish in you. Change the whole shebang sprockets and all and use a rivet link.

That's an okay tool at wemoto but a better one is the Motion Pro Style out on Ebay
where you have a handle on the riveter as you crank it in to spread the rivet head
It takes a good bit of elbow grease to get that head to spread just right without
over doing it and clamping the link plate too tight against the link. If too tight against
the link the oring / xring with wear out prematurely.

My 2 cents

I have seen and heard of so many clip links letting go that I would never use one.

I like the peace of mind with a riveted link

That's why you safety wire the clip link.

Bassman, read my " i told you so " thread. My mates chain let go using a clip link ( spring link) and apart from a few i think the overall view is most people don`t trust them.

Hawkwind , your bloody lucky to find that, accident waiting to happen there mate.
