I just pulled a 1987 CBR 100f Hurricane out of my brother in laws basement. It needs some work and this place looks like a wealth of information. I was able to get all the manuals here, thanks guys! So the good is I got the bike to run. The bad is I have to jump the starter the throttle switch just turns the headlight off it does not crank the motor. The fork seals are shot (parts come in on Friday) and gas leaks into the air box (hello stuck float). The plastics are all cracked or just gone. I am prepared to replace the fork seals and change all the fluids/plugs/tires. I am hoping that if i spray some carb cleaner I can get away with out taking the carbs apart. I also need an exhaust there’s only headers on the bike now. Do you experts have any other suggestions, or places for cheap exhaust? Thanks for the help.

Yes. Good luck. I'm in the middle of trying to sort out mine. Been stood 10years with fuel sat in the carbs which turned into loads of crud. So you might want to reconsider. Takes about 30mins to drain the fuel, remove the tank, pull back the air box, pull off the carbs and turn them upside down and take off the bowls. cbr900racer77 and others are helping me with this problem (https://cbrforum.com/forum/cbr-1000f-hurricane-38/carb-clean-now-lumpy-idle-108655/ )

hope it helps

Had some major bad luck tonight. After buying all new fork seals from honda new plugs and battery Carefully removing the front forks I noticed a drip comming from the dipstick on the right side engine cover. When I unscrewed the cap coolant and oil came pooring out. My guess is a hole in the cylinder wall. I am guesing that parts for a rebuild are going to be more than Ive got. On a good note everyones hurricanes just got a little more rare.

Could be just a head gasket - not such a major problem........
Damn ! Bad luck though.
Don't give up now - it'll get better.....
If all else fails you can pick up an engine for around $400. Could be a reasonable alternative....
