Braking not smooth - 96 CBR1000F
I noticed at times its hard to stop smoothly when trying to gradually slow down. It's no problem when making hard stops (maybe they should all be that way?). I'm wondering if I'm feeling the the secondary master cylinder actuating - not much braking power then lots of braking power. The linked brakes are ok, but I think I'd feel better with standard braking. If the complexity of the LBS is not the cause of my "non-linear" braking, do the handlebar master cylinders have problems where the piston feels like it's sticking a little in the bore?
Thanks,
Pat

If the brake rotors have dark areas, i.e are not completly shiny over the whole contact path, the pads could be out (to worn) or the pads need to be sanded down some to get a fresh friction surface. If the fluid hasn't been changed for a couple of years that is also needed. My brakes where week and pulsed somewhat to, they are far above expectations now after cured according to above. A good clean of eferything that moves in the caliper is also recommended.

RE: Braking not smooth - 96 CBR1000F
If you think that the problem is the LBS, with the bike on the centerstand, have someone turn the rear wheel while you pull up on the front left caliper. You should feel smooth breaking on the rear wheel.
At this time also check for rotor warpage at the rear.
Light pulling on the caliper so that the rear wheel turns with some resistance, checking for high spots or tight areas as the wheel turns.
Then check the two front calipers with the front tire off the ground. Have your helper sit on the pillion while you turn the front tire while applying light lever breaking.
EDIT: With the front still in the air, use light pedal breaking to check the inner front caliper pistons for sticking.

EDIT:You need to fine the fault before you de-link anyway.
If you still want to de-link I can get you through it. It is relatively easy.
Otherwise, the problem may be like R1000 says.
A good cleaning may be all it needs.
EDIT: R1000, I feel as though I am stepping on toes by jumping in here but there seems to be a misunderstanding at times on how the LBS works. It had me confused at first.
