Bike is struggling to start...

RE: Bike is struggling to start...
ok, here's how its going...
It all came apart quite nicely, (as you'd expect) no dramas. I've put the new damper in place and am attempting to get the alternator shaftback into position. The part of the shaft (behind the thread) that slots into the bearing in the engine casing is nowhere to be seen. (see attachment)
What you can see is the end of the alternator shaft (after the damper has been placed on)
Notice there is only about 10mm of thread protruding past the damper.
So, what has gone wrong? The alternator hasn't been dismantled at all, and the damper is the same size as the original.
I've attempted the socked on the end of the shaft. All good until I take the socke off the end, then the shaft drops down, because the bit that fits into the bearing hasn't quite made it.
How am I going to get the shaft back through the bearing so I can put the nut back on? Suggestions?

RE: Bike is struggling to start...
Bother.
I had a visitor this afternoon, and took some time out to catch up. This was after taking the damper out, but prior to putting it all back together again.I've just found out from her indoors, thatthe young feller that was helping me, showed her the alternator, spinning it around and stuff, and she said "a few bits dropped off it when he pulled thetoothed wheeloff the axle thing".
I've just found a largish concave washer on the driveway, matches one already on the alternator. I have no idea how it goes back together. It was not mentioned to me, and when I bought it up with said young feller, he admitted showing the wife, but reckoned he didn't notice any parts falling off...Fek, why would you pull the dam thing apart? The reply? "I was curious..."
Jeez, ya gotta laugh...
Anyhow, I think thats why it ain't going back together very well. It is probable that the parts of the alternator are on in a different order than what they were originally.
Has anyone got an exploded view of the CBR1000F alternator I could review? My service manual doesn't go into that level of detail...

First, I'd KILL the little bugger !!!!!!!!![:@][:@]
My drawings aren't in enough detail, either, sorry.
Maybe Kaska's photographs would help, or drop him an e-mail.
I will do a search and see if I can find anything, but......
I think Naga Thai's pic (hi Martin san) is the best you'll do without pictures....

RE: Bike is struggling to start...
thanks guys. I thought I'd seen that exploded view before from a link to mrcycle.com. Anyway, the spring washers were between the washer and the collar (which was upside down), not where they should have been. (between the collar and the circlip). So, it's in the right order, butstill the shaft is falling short.
