Default Arc Welding

I need to arc weld a frame bracket on the old girl and i ws interested in knowing if I need to unplug anything other than the battery beforehand so I dont fry anything.

I would remove any of the wiring from the immediate area of the weld, and about 2" on either side I would wet newspaper, and wad it into a ball, and squish it onto the frame - this will reduce heat transfer down the frame to any heat-sensitive stuff, and reduce chances of warping as well.

I would unplug the ECU that is behind the rear fairing on the right side.

aslong as you disconect the battery the bike is dead, no need for above unless your overprecausious

It is a cheap insurance to disconnect the ECU. More than a few have smoked their ECUs in cars when welding. The welding current is very strong, houndreds of amps and high voltage spikes. The ECU is connected all around the bike and if it is reached by anything more than about 20 volts it may let out thebuilt in smoke. It can be enough even with a few volts to kill it to if it is reversed,which can be the result of ground current circuits that are generated when welding.
