Hey everyone. I have to replace my cam chain so I thought I would do a compleat engine rebuild. Anyone have a reference for the engine rebuild? Web or book or ? Anyone done this already that could give some advice? I have 36k miles on it right now. The tensioner has been replaced but the chain was stretched too much and the noise is still there.

 

I have to ask the question, why would you need a complete engine rebuild at 36k, that is not a lot of K's.
If there some other problem apart from the CCT, to me at 36k it seems only "run in"

With you on that one Johnno .......a big WHY ? unless there other issues
I'd just put another chain in and evaluate the tensioner

 

Fit a DID camchain with a link and you don't need to pull the engine out.

It runs great other then the chain and it bogs down when taking off a bit. I figured if I had to crack the case I should rebuild it though. If I can do the link thing then I won't rebuild it. I will be riding it across country next summer for 2 months. Want to make sure it is ready.
