1000fk seat lock problem.
ive scanned the posts but cant find a diagram. basically my seat lock has broke and i cant get the seat off. Ive only just bought the bike.. the key is not actually turning the mechanism its possibly sheared off how does it actuate i can pull the seat up and inch or two and can see a lever which I have poked about but it doesnt release anything.
which way should I push this lever towards the front of the bike or try and flick it to the back..any ideas thanks

Here's a picture of the seat mechanism
You can just see behind the cam lobe that I arrowed, a small lever which is the part of the lock release mechanism. The lobe normally pushes this backwards, you can slot a long thin screwdriver under the seat and push this backwards to release the seat. I had to do this myself once so I know it works. It's just a bit fiddly, unless you get lucky it'll take about half an hour, so get comfortable before you start

You can drill a small 1/4 inch hole up under the rear wheel "fender/ mudguard"
dead center where the oval part meets the straight part ......then poke a flat head
screw driver up catch the latch and push rear ward ..... keep a heavy weight or
pressure on it seat as you do it ..... just put a little rubber bung in in case you ever
need to have to do it again ! .... nice easy fix that can't be seen it's that simple
Looking at Hawks pic your access hole show right under the front of the
latch (allowing for camera angle ) and the flat screw driver will engage the "cam"
(not the loop) at the rear ..........push it back with the flat head .......POP off she comes

When i took my grab rail off to paint i put the seat back on without the grab rail & LOCK i lifted the seat a bit as Hawk says & used a screwdriver to push the latch Backwards only took a couple of minutes (beginers luck).
When i refitted the grab rail i put the latch arm thingy back in the lock but facing the wrong way so i had to use the screwdriver again.
Good luck with getting your seat off, it should'nt be too bad.

I had a couple of issues with this. I found once I didnt turn the key hard enough ie it had a few mills to go to actuate the mechanism. Sometimes that slider that is being pushed back doesnt run smoothly in its rail. Pulled it all out, cleaned and re-greased and added some insulation tape on the bottom of the U section on rod that actually pushes the slider back. The insulation tape is to get more contact to actuate.
