Hi there.

What year CBR1000 are we talking about?

The Bird has dual-linked brakes.

OK so that also has the linked braking system

I would take a look at and compare the part numbers for the braking system on the two bikes, try here :-

https://www.mrcycles.com/oemparts/c/...orcycle/parts/

If the numbers match, then it should mean the parts are interchangeable.

Personally, I'm not keen on the idea of a linked system, though this is purely my own prejudice, as I've never tried the linked set-up. Many owners have de-linked the systems on both the CBR1000F and the BBird.

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out.

Personally, I like the linked brakes. Under heavy braking mid corner, the bike just slows down, doesn't get unstable, and most importantly, doesn't sit up.
I had 3 CBR1000's, then a Yamaha Thunderace, braked hard, mid corner and the bike sat upright. Cost me a dislocated collarbone and the best part of £1000 to put the bike back together. I have a mate, an ex trail bike rider, doesn't like the linked system as he can,t drag the rear brake to stabilize the bike while cornering.
I now have my CBR1000FX, one of the last.

Hi Punts,

Had a quick look at the fiche pictures for both bikes and I'm not convinced the lines will be compatible. The part numbers certainly don't match up.

You may still be able to make them fit as they're non 'OEM'.
