Default K&N OR BMC FILTER???

I bought a factory pro carb set for $25 on ebay and they say it is drop in, my local dealer said 1 hour of labor...not bad...will gain around 9 hp per factory pro website. I don't know to put in a k&n or bmc air filter...has anyone had either luck? I had a k&n in a couple of bikes with a light difference, I want mine to flow!!!

Dont waste your time with either...stick with your original stock filter sense it was made to fit the bike. I wouldnt sayyou gain 9 HP...maybe 2

If you do some research about K&N, it has been said that it may actually reduce HP because of the way it was designed, it's not a perfect fit. (I would help ya and show you some links however at work it's kinda difficult.).Since it changes the air flow, rumor has it that you also want to get a Power Commander so that you can adjust it according.

Some people will swear up and down that it does work...My question is does it really make a difference or for the money spent do people just "imagine" that it does. **shrug**

Actually, changing the air filter or exhcuast set up on a bike can decrease performance if you don't follow through with a custom dyno tune.

Now, a K & N air filter, a PCIIIand a new dyno tune might give you 3-5 HP tops... you're looking to spend$500 for 3 HP. If you'respending lots of timeat the track it might be worth it but otherwise save your money.

Mine is a 99 so it has no fuel injection, no power commander etc...

This is to smooth out the curve throughout, check the site to see what I mean...

http://www.factorypro.com/

They have the whole run down, with proven rear wheel horsepower gain of 9 horsepower...
