is it possible to swap a 2003 954 engine into a 2002 954. as well as some other parts like suspension brakes and fairings etc... im asking because i have a 02 900 which is getting tired and my friend has a complete 03 954 pretty much mint and is willing to swap everything to my bike real cheap. im sure it is possible but any main problems we might run in to.

 

02 900? Do you mean 929? 99 was the last year of the 900rr.

 

yeah i meant to put 2002 954rr not 2002 900rr! but anyway i have a 03 954 engine and im gonna swap it to a 03 954- theyre swap right? im sure they will but just double checking

 

Yup, you will be fine with the swap.

 

the only difference between the two years is the head bearing on early 02s which was recalledand paint schemes otherwise they are completely 100% the same

 

you will find main problem to bethe insurance fraud charges

 

the steering neck berrings are different one is a ball berring the other is a roller setup.........also the forks are slightly different 03 seals wil not work on 02 mounting locations are the same diameter just keep in mind when looking for parts




was the recall for head shake?
