Default 99 F4 Fuel Pump issue

Real quick. How can you tell if your fuel pump is actually working. I disconnected it from the connection by the battery and started the bike, I used a light tester and put it into the connector but the light did not come on. How do you actually test the fuel pump.

What i did do was disconnected it from the the connector under the seat. I rode the bike for a minute until it would not go any more. I don't know if that was a clue or not. When you say disconnect, do you mean the hose or the power wires leading to the fuse box and battery?

i would disconnect the hose from the outlet side, where it goes into the engine. and just aim it in a bucket start it up and see if it pumps fuel from the tank through the pump and into the bucket..
