Hey guys. So I just upgraded to the EBC 310mm floating rotor conversion on my f2. I am going to have to have brackets made to mount the calipers anyways. So I was looking into some 4 pot calipers to swap for the front, anyone done this? Basically I just need to make sure they fit between the rotor & spokes. Not sure which ones, but I want to stick with honda nissin calipers. Either F4, 900/929/954 calipers. Anyone have opinions or insight?

 

I have never done this swap but do have my F4 calipers off the bike if you need any pics or measurements, let me know.

 

I didnt think a caliper from a F4 was 4 pot. I do believe they are the same as F3 with 296mm rotors. A properly maintained F2 system with stainless braided lines and those 310mm rotors should be more than plenty. And if you have access to a blasting cabinet blast your rotors once or twice a year. Your gonna have fun mismatching parts from other bikes trying to find what might work and what dont. Hopefully you dont find out it dont work at the wrong time.

 

And even if you do get it all to mount up it still might not be right. On another site a fella bought a CBR 900 with the 17 in front wheel conversion. Dont know who did the conversion but it had solid mounted rotors and solid mounted calipers, a big no no.

 

No the F4 was the first 600 Honda to have 4 pots with 296 mm rotors. Only the F2 F3 and VFR had 2 pistons. I figure if I have to make brackets anyway I might try to see if a 4 pot is possible. F4 calipers are the same as f4is & basically the same as 900/929/954 calipers. It's just some measurements, no biggie. Might as well try if I can get them for really cheap. And now that I have floating rotors a fixed caliper is no big deal.

 

F4 calipers sounds good, you did some research, I didnt. Yes, since you are making the brackets anyhow you should be able to get F4 calipers mounted no problems.

 

I was thinking (I do that sometimes), since the F4 are 4 piston calipers, that would be 8 total pistons that need fluid pumped to them compared to 4 total piston of the F2. Would the master cylinder be enough? Or should you also us the F4 master cylinder. Or is there even a difference between F2 masters and F4 masters.

 

Good thinking frank, but I already just installed a m/c off of a 99 900rr, so I'm set with that too, lol.
