As far as protection for the bike itself what all I should I get for it? Frame/fork/clutch sliders, swingarm spools, anything else? Baxsom seemed to have a pretty good list of things, but I have no idea what a stompgrip or strator sliders are...

stator sliders are a replacement cover made from woodcraft. they are thicker than oem and have an aluminum plate to absorb the damage

RE: New bike - "must have" mods?
I have had my bike since sept and it still is completely stock. I just enjoy riding and I know I dont need any performance parts seeing I will never use the bike to its full potential. The only thing I got was a nice pair of riding gloves with knuckle protection, alpinestars jacket and a helmet. Be safe and get the gear first. There are to many riders out there with just a helmet and in my opinion that isnt enough. It kills me to see guys riding around in sandals and a tee shirt

RE: New bike - "must have" mods?
For me personally I own all the gear I could ever need (2 of most things actually) and dont get a new bike all that often but I have done Stomp Grip on all, ZG Double Bubble on all, Re Gear each. Depends on what is lacking on a particular bike I guess. My 600 was stock the whole time. My 900 needed more power so a full exhaust/jet kit were put on and a Corbin seat, regeared. My 1000 has ****ty brakes so Brembo/Goodridge were called upon to fix that, the power is fine just needed some tweaking to make it managable so a PCIII was put on along with making my throttle tube a 1/5th turn throttle. It all depends on what you want to accomplish. Ohlins should be installed on every bike anymore. ****ty suspension should be a thing of the past but for some reason it's not. I suppose price has a play in that and what people are willing to pay for a new bike.

RE: New bike - "must have" mods?
Personally, the "must-have" mod that I do FIRST for every single bike I've ever had is a new exhaust. Not the cheapest "must-have," but stock sound is just so lame to me...Specifically for the CBR, the only other part of the bike I absolutely had to get rid of was the plate/signal bracket in the rear. What a clunky looking mess on such a beautiful bike. Replacement options are abundant, ranging from integrated taillights to $150+ fender eliminator kits. #3 on my list is the front turn signals.
I just put on my new exhaust this past week, and am expecting my new windshield, front signals and integrated taillight next week.
