New bike - "must have" mods?
I just picked up an 06 RR. Just wondering what people consider some must have mods/accessories for it?
So far I'd like to get some form of engine/fairing guards, steering damper, exhaust pipe, tinted windscreen.
Mostly just the engine/fiaring guards and a steering damper for safety purposes. Anything else I could use? Also recommendations on the types of accessories/mods would be greatly appreciated

RE: New bike - "must have" mods?
you dont need to mod any of it
mods that i personally must have
fork sliders, frame sliders,
swingarm spools. stompgrip
steel brake lines, clutch and stator sliders
after that get your suspension set up by a competenet tech.
then its all up to you
make sure you have proper gear then decide what you want to do with the bike.
ocassional track day. i wouldnt do anything else.
full on track bike,
lightweight parts to include pipe, 520 regearing, pc3 with custom map etc

The mods I "had" on my 06 included......
- Rizoma Zero turn signals
- HID headlamps (one of the best mods I could have ever made)
- Custom "Raccoon Mask" vinyl graphics in front
- Custom "Raccoon Tail" rear Fender Eliminator kit
- Lightning Performance Frame Sliders (excellent brand)
- Pinstriped wheels (not rim stripes either)
- Lettering decals on tires
- 520 chain/sprocket conversion with stock gearing
Here's a pic from when I bought it to what it looked like a couple months ago (before the accident)....
It's amazing what little modifications you can do to make a bike look 100% better. But I would definitely look into an HID retrofit kit if you ride at night a lot. Helps dramatically.

Thanks for the advice so far. This will be my first sport bike by the way.I've had a cruiser for awhile just to learn on and I think I'm finally ready to step it up to something faster and sexier. Cool aesthetic accesory recommendations are also most definitelywelcome

Oh by the way fox your bike looks absolutely badass now (Hope the accident didn't beat her up too bad). The 6 hours old picture is exactly the same as the one I just bought. I can't wait to pimp it out though. Its true that the little modifications make it look that much cooler.

Must have = GEAR, GEAR, and (if you can afford it) MORE GEAR.
Get the best helmet you can afford, a good jacket, good gloves, a decent set of boots, and some riding (armored) pants
The right gear not only will keep you safer, it will make the ride more enjoyable (both in the heat, and in the cold)
Not to mention it looks cool as hell
(and way better than squiding it up on your best wifebeater, shorts and baseball cap)
