I've been looking to wrap mine also, I did remove the heat shield though when I installed mine. I did find a black wrap on bikebandit. I could use some pics if anyone has attempted this before

I have seen it before and if done neatly looks pretty good. On your black bike it should look decent. My only worry about doing it (and im basing this off car experience) is after a couple years the pipe underneath can get a bit rusty and or tarnished. The wrap will hold in condensation, or if you get caught in the rain a few times, etc. So if your going to do it, plan on it being permanent. If you take it off a year later, you may not like how your pipe looks anymore.

Also be sure the wrap does not touch the plastics, the wrap still gets hot enough to melt/damage them.

Hi Compulady5

We did my friends bike a while back and it came out nice. Just make sure to soak the wrap in water for a bit before you wrap it so that it conforms to the pipe better.

Also to help the condensation problem TK954rr was talking about, just get some clear or black VHT High Heatspray paint and spray the wrap after you are all done installing it. It acts as a sealant that will prevent condensation from forming and rusting your pipes. Let us know how you get on and post some pics. Good luck

Did you throw your removed heat shield out? If not, you should spray paint it black to match your bike and you won't have any more problems. Use high temp paint.

Hey,
I did mine with black fiberglass exhaust wrap about 6months ago- I took all the plastic and metal heat shielding off too. I have had zero problems since then and it looks great.

I put on a 2bro's exhaust with the wrap. Word to the wise though...the black will fade with time, mine has.
There is a white color out there, go with it since the black will fade to it...it looks kinda crappy now.

I went to autozone and bought 50 feet for about $50 if I recall- it took about 2 hours since the lower collector was a pain to wrap.

PUT ON GLOVES TO DO THIS
I didnt and the fiberglass tore my hands up!

it would help also if you lossen the exhaust pipe from the collector to the rear that way you have room to get around the pipe under the subframe.

If you want pics and or need help just email me
Good luck
