Woodcraft slider
I just received my woodcraft frame sliders!
I searched for a how to thread but I couldn't find
any, are there any that you may know of? My main question was which side the longer base and bolt goes on? Ive heard the left side, does that mean the throttle side?
Thanks in advance
BTW I have an 08

Hmmm, i've always used Vortex but the sliders and parts cant be too terribly different.
1st, the search option isnt gonna work so well right now. the forum is having some difficulties in certain areas.......search option being one of them.
2nd, i'll get you a thread on the sliders. if i cant find it i'll give you a brief but descriptive write up.
3rd, the directions or the packaging that the sliders where inshould clearify which side is longer. i have my packaging for my sliders in the garage still i believe. i'll run and take a look real quick but i BELIEVE (atleast on my '08 600RR) that the bolts were the same length.
brb, will let you know......

ok, just checked.
you said you have an '08....so i'll assume its a '08 600RR. now, i know you said youhave Woodcraft, but my Vortex package just said 'both sides are identical on this model'.
hope that was somewhat helpful. now i'll look for a 'how to' if you still need it.

Oh yea sorry its a 2008 600rr. I'm holding both bolts and bases side by side and one side is definitely longer. My main question at this point is when speaking of the "left" side does that generally mean the throttle side?
Ive been searching the forum and web for "How to's" and haven't come across a good one for woodcraft sliders but maybe you have a few tricks up your sleeve. So any help would be greatly appreciated! If all goes well I might do my own how to or may be what not to do thread. haha
Thanks Jaynd

socal, when they say 'left side', i'll have to assume they're speaking of the clutch side (left side if you're seated on the bike). i dont understand why one would be longer than the other. are you sure they arent for a F4i? my F4i and g/f's F4i had one longer puck/bolt.....but my RR, they are identical. cant think of why they'd need to be different sizes!
let me look up a 'how to' for you really quick............check back in a couple minutes chief. i'll see what i can find.

well im having absolutely no luck finding that thread for 'how to'.
its pretty easy really for the '08 600RR. all you do is remove the fairings and drill
. no really, i just eyeballed where the center of the stock engine bolt was and marked it w/ a small dot from a Sharpie. i then removed the lower fairings and put the drill to'er. my frame slider holes came out perfect and clean. they look like they're stock.

Haha Yea just start drilling!
ahaha
I haven't had any luck finding anything useful either. Ill figure it out, probably make a few calls tomorrow to local shops see if they can shed some light on my questions. Now you have me wondering if I even got the correct kit or if its for an F4i. I just want to make sure before I start cutting my plastics![&:]
Thanks again Jaynd

take out the 2 engine mount bolts that the woodcraft bolts replace, and you will see where the different bolts go....you cant mess it up.
honestly, thats how i did my woodcraft slider's....its idiot proof.

dont cut anything first, test fit the slider's and get it figured out.
to center punch the hole, i used a rivet which i ground down to a pint on the long end, and on the short rivet end, i wrapped electrical tape around the rivet so it would fit snug in the holes that the bolt's sit in....push the rivet into that hole so the sharp end faces out...then put your fairing back on and push against the rivet.
you will have a center punch from the backside, then drill your 1/8" hole, then use your hole saw.
after test fitting the cut fairing with the slider in place, take the fairing off, and use a half round file (fine grit) to make the hole look perfect...like honda made the hole.

Sliders installed!
I found out that indeed the longer bolt and base goes on the left side. I used the playdough method to figure out the center and then I cut the whole with a hole saw.
Grip driver, thats a good idea using a rivet. Too bad I had already installed them by the time I saw your post thanks anyways.
And thanks for your help Jaynd
