Default heat wrap on header & exhaust Question..

i just wrap my exhaust system from header to end of the pipe (before the muffler) on my 98 cbr900rr. the question is does it do any affect on shielding the heat, i'll still feel alot of heat after it finish smoking....do i need to wrap it more than once?? any answer guys would help alot...thanks mak

don't ever wrap your header. worst thing you could ever do to it. i looked into wrapping mine and it will drstroy your pipe. look online about wrapping header and you will see. i had my header jet hot coated and it is the best. but header wrap noooooo way

do you havce any link to these site? and what can it really do to the header? will it crack?...and whre can i go to get my header jet hot coated?? thanks cbr_racin123....

From what I hear its ok to wrap your header as long as you start about 2" away from the engine. any closer and it builds crazy hot temps and will come apart. but again, I haven't done it but have seen it done with everything turning out ok

i heard somewhere (don't quote me on it) that wrapping your exhaust system causes condensation in your pipes causing rust. I'm not saying don't do it; just look into that rumor.

I realize this thread is ridiculously old, but +1 to jet-hot, the shop I worked at sent tons of stuff to them for coating, and it always came back flawless.

There are oil additives and different coolants, you will here pros and cons to all of them though.
