Default f4 to f4i tail - 03 and 06 tails ?

im about to order a set of fairings and just ordered an 05 subframe from an F4i. for those who dont know, auctmarts is sending me a full F4 kit with an F4i tail fairing. i need help from you educated cbrf people

1) the seat on my bike is the F4 banana style seat.. to keep using this seat like i want.. what year tail fairing should i get from an F4i?

2)will my new 05 F4i subrame fit the above (question #1) ?

3) i have done a custom FE, have read F4 to F4i conversions and seen pix (thnx gotcbr) .. besides the DIY work, is there anything else i should be concerned with on ordering a tail fairing and making it work on the F4?

Thanks guys!

1) You want 04-06 I believe.. its the exact same that you have on the F4 except it has holes cut out for the grab bar.. which you now need if you are using those fairings..

2) yeah the subframe will fit, but you just wasted money because it is basically the same as the one that you have now except the R/R is on the other side for the F4i. (unless your F4 subframe is tweaked)

Are you swapping the front upper fairing and all components or just doing a 'reskin' of fairings for your F4?

Wait wait wait.. I thought you NEED an f4i subframe to use the f4i tail on an f4 lol??

And I'm thinking about just doing a reskin of my f4 unless it will just be easier/cleaner to get a full f4i kit and make that fit my f4

Okay.. here we go again..

99-00 F4 tail:

04-06 F4i tail:

If you want the 01-03 "split seat" tail to look like this, you need the 01-03 subframe. It is black, compared to the silver subframes on the F4 and later F4is..

here is the banana seat vs split seat subframes

I like my banana style lol.. Thank you for those pictures.. So I'm good to go then with no need to use that f4i subframe.. Now I'm wondering if I should just order a full 04-06 F4i kit..

Nice job on those descriptions Turbulenz. I recognize that frame comparison pic. ;-)

Acespad3, as Turbulenz pointed out, there's no reason to change your current banana style subframe to a '04-06 banana subframe b/c they're the same. Only if you want to go split-seat style like mine, do you need to swap your subframe to an '01-03 split-seat style.

if you order a full kit for the f4i

will the front fender fit?

I've read they dont fit the f4, but then see some guys selling cf fenders on ebay for the f4 and f4i. I dont have my f4 close so i cant check since I have a full spare f4i fairing kit sitting here for an 01-03 with the split seat.

and the tail you'll get will probably have the holes for that grab bar I assume?

You are correct on the grab bar holes. To avoid those holes, get an F4 tail which is same as the f4i banana tail with no holes to fill
