I put the proton flush mounts on my 03 f4i and they are really bright and easy to install.
I just took the front cowl off and removed the old ones bolted on and wired up the new ones and put everything back together. Yes it counts and it was my first mod too

 

Really, if visibility of the signals is a concern, flush mounts are not the way to go. I can't remember the last time I noticed a bike's flush mounts blinking.

On my bike, the previous owner installed flush mounts. I ended up buying new mirrors with LED signals and just cutting the wires to the flushes. Not sure they're so visible from the side, but they definitely are from the front.

 

Why didn't you splice into the signal wires so both the flush mount and mirror signals work together?
