cog setup
Hi all, first post on what ive found to be an awesome site so far.
Me and a mate are currently using a cbr600 f4 to make a track bike, body works almost finished, done the obvious air filter and exhaust, as well as removing anything no longer needed, but we were thinging about changing the sprockets.
what would be the best thing? thinking about dropping a tooth on the rear, but some advice would be great. Thinking about uping the acceleration then bigger top end.
First project but would rather ask then learn from (expensive) mistakes

Well, i would recommend using the search function for starters.
going 1 down in the rear is pretty unheard of. the most common sprocket chain set up is a -1 in the front +2 in the rear with a 520 conversion. anything in the middle is also pretty common.
i'd say for a track bike stick with the -1 in front. depends on the track you are going to ride on most often. if there is a long front straight you don;t want to compromise top speed too much.
just my $0.02

1 down 2 up with a 520 chain conversion i got it on my f4i and i love it. I can still hit 155 160 for the straights and it pulls out of the corners so much harder. Love it! I bought mine as a kit from http://www.sumofallparts.net/ . The kit comes with front and rear vortex sprockets and a 520 rk chain for $160 including shipping. Its a pretty good deal
