First of all most "slip-ons" are gonna addhardly anypower. maybe a horse or 2, but lets be honest with ourselves everyone does it for the sound, or look. IF your trying tomake power, you need to do alot more than just a slip on.
typical ****ty pipe owner garbage.
good quality slip ons will gain a 1000RR 10+hp
my arata netted exactly 10
on 1000rr.net you will find that people with satos, aratas, and akros are getting 10+ every time.
speedy1000rr got 14
this is with a custom map of course but even if you stuck pvc out of the collector you should get it custom mapped

besides hotbodies reminds me of a **** stars *******.
all gaping and wide open.

So you proved my point exatly...with just a slip on you arn't going to get much of a gain, you need it remapped and everything else to get that 10 horse gain, i know that as much as the next guy. I was simply stating that with just a slip on youarn't going to get much of a gain, and as you just proved you might get 10hp if you spend $600 on a "top notch" slip on and another couple hundred to get a powercommander and a remap. Arata only advertises a 10+gain on their full exhaust systemswhich start at $1200 or so.

I do agree with the **** star comment thoughhahah everybody remember the volcano girl video.

yeah but its just stupid to get a pipe and not get a map to go with it
the map and pipe go hand in hand.

either do it right or not at all
the reason it needs to be mapped is not the slip ons fault, its the bikes fault
the air fuel curve on the 1000rr is rich as hell to start with. mapping just fixes that.
hell you can get more power out of a stock pipe with a custom map.

your point is looks and sound.
i say starbucks poser squid
its all about performance or its a waste of money

First of all i am glad we have resorted to name calling when we are arguing the same point.

my original post stated "that if you want power you have to do more than just the slip on". "Otherwise you are doing it for looks and sound"

You= argued the fact that you get power with the slip on when it is an expensive slip on and you re-map it, Which leads me back to my original statement. you did more that just the slip on...
I don't see why this must continue.I agree with remapping the bike totally butthat gets pricey, and if someone isn't going todo it than all they are getting is a different look and sound.

Hey i am not trying to say your wrong hell i haven't even riden my 1000rr yet i just bought it,But it isn't my first bike i know how exhaust and powercommanders work.

thanks for the posts and the advice. i called hotbodies today to ask them if the undertail exhaust system abs plastic is the same size as the undertail kit plastic, reason being i already have the holes on my tail section drilled so if i went with the undertail exhaust i could use the existing holes. the guy told me that you can put an aftermarket pipe on the undertail kit i have no problem. he said that the stock exhaust actually runs hotter than an aftermarket because it has a bigger catylitic converter so going with a carbon fiber jardine would work and fit just fine. i just have not seen any pictures or seen anybody with an undertail exhaust with an undertail on it. this probably sounds like pretty basic stuff to some of you but all the info i can get from you helps out. so next month i will have to decide, hotbodies undertail exhaust or jardine dual outlets. thanks again
