RE: internal gear indicator by acumen
yes it reads two signals...first the rpms, then the speed(whihc is read at the shaft). it takes those two signals and does a simple equation that makes a linear idea of rpm to speed ratio. being that the rpm to speed ratio is different between each gear it then is able to guess what gear you are in while riding. i pick these two signals up inside the gauges (this is why there are no external wires) (except on the yamahas, there rpm signal is all goofy coming out of the ecu so i have to go back to the engine sensor and bring it back... so there is an external wire on the yamahas..... but i havent released those yet)

From what I have read, the speed on the CBRsis determined from the rpms and from the gear that the bike is in. If this is correct, there must already be gear indicator in the tranny or something. Why then can't that signal be tapped in to and displayed instead of tapping in to the rpms and the speed to come up with the gear? If there is a gear signal already, why must we go about displaying the gear in a Rube Goldsburg manner? Just something to ponder. [sm=wtf.gif], or I may just be full of s**t, who knows?

Does Acumen have a kit that can be installed externally for the people who don't want to take apart their instrument clusters?
I think that is an external kit.

also inorder to hook up the plug and external GI you still have to take the front clip apart to get to the harness so you might as well just send them to me
