Default gear indicator

I'm new here so I'm sure you guys can help me out with this. I just bought a 2003
CBR600 F4i and would like to know what kind of gear indicators are out there and how hard are they to install.
Also I posted this question in the general tech. When I got the bike I received a set of Continental Road Attack tires (not mounted). I intend to use this bike mostly for track days.
What do you think of the tires and what do most of you use on the track?

Thank's, Jim

I already posted about the tires. Dunlop 208's til now, Qualifiers now and havent been to the track with em yet. As far as gear indicator for a track bike seems kinda odd. You're just adding weight to the bike. Doesnt matter "what gear" your in, just keep the revs where it makes power regardless of what gear it's in. Your bike will want to be around 8000 exiting so you can get a good drive out. But if you insist, here is the only one I've ever heard of for motorcycles.

you dont need a gear indicator, just get use to your bike and rpm ranges and engine speed etc....

I agree L2...but....Aside from trying to shift from 6th to 7th gear all the time (I am guilty of this at least once per day), what gear you are in is immaterial, looking at an indicator will just give you another reason to take your eyes off the road. But I can see why you'd want to know the gear especially if you downshift multiple times before entering a turn where first or second gear can be too low. Maybe someone with more experience than me can opion on this situation for both of our edification.

Its hard not to think about "what if" when a lot of the new bikes have the gear indicators STOCK. It wouldn't be too hard to look down, the new bikes have it near the tach.

I cant count. I want one, Im looking at Acumen digital gear indicator $99. @ www.riderstation.com , comes in red or blue display. What I dont like is you have to splice the wires . I think they have a plugin for the RR. I have a 06 F4I Anyone know if the plug behind the cluster is the same as the RR ?
